How to Apply
Our scholarship, The Markonia Award is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 - 18 who received their secondary education at Princess Margaret or Springer Memorial Secondary Schools in Barbados.

We will fund first year tuition fees, the costs of books and uniforms.
​
Applicants will be required to follow the normal application process of the Samuel Jackman Pressed Institute of Technology (SJPI). The Foundation will work with SJPI, the local Board of Trustees and Guidance Counsellors of Princess Margaret Secondary and Springer Memorial Schools, to shortlist candidates for the Markonia Award.

Applications for the Markonia Award is made at the same time as the application for your chosen course at the SJPI.

There are no academic requirements to be eligible for a Markonia Award.

Eligibility requirements are :

Anyone ages 16-18 (at the time of application).

Former students of Princess Margaret or Springer Memorial Secondary Schools.

Citizen of Barbados.

The award covers the first year of study and successful Markonia awardees will have the opportunity to re-apply for funding in subsequent years and this will be dependent on achieving a GPA of 3.0 or above on their course of study.

Awards in second year will be at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to provide a letter of recommendation from a headteacher/guidance counsellor/certified sports coach or teacher.
